When deciding to leave your house and going on a vacation an important thing is not to forget your pets and plants. In today’s article we have decided to show you 6 easy and practical ways of watering your indoor and outdoor plants without bothering anyone else for it.
You can try using a shallow tray fill it with small rocks and pebbles. Once filled with pebbles or rocks you can pour in some water in it until it s full. Once the water reaches the top of the rocks stop pouring water and put your potted plants in the tray.
An efficient yet smart way of watering your plants while you are away is also to put a damp or a wet towel underneath the drainage hole of the pot.
Water Your Plants Using a Wine Bottle
You need an empty wine bottle that you will rinse and then fill with water. Stand close to the planter. Turn the wine bottle upside down very quickly. Its neck should be into the soil next to the plant itself. The neck should be at least a few inches under the ground.
This one is a little similar to the one with the damp towel, but you can use this one if you have some larger plants.
String Watering System
Fill a larger jar or some other kind of container with water. Put the plant somewhere near this container and place a cotton string going from the container into the plant. By doing this the string is going to carry some water from the container to the soil slowly into the roots of the plant.
Use Diapers to Keep Your Plants Watered
Put some diapers on the bottom of an empty pot and re-pot your plants before leaving. Because of the diapers the soil will remain wet for a couple of days!
