Back in the past our ancestors consumed much different fruits and veggies than the ones which we consume today. It might surprise you, but even the bananas you eat today were much different than the ones your grand mother or grand father ate. And the fact that today’s watermelon and corn taste nothing like the ones our ancestors ate, really bugs my mind.
Today’s farmers actively and selectively develop fruits and vegetables. And yes we are talking about genetic engineering, this kind of plants development gives us less seeds and more of the part that we eat. But the real problem is that not everything is like it seems.
What we are trying to say is that selective plants breeding includes the selection and cultivation of specific crops which look and taste nicely. Watermelons for example are bred so that they can give more flesh and less seeds. And the fact that today’s bananas have seeds which are much softer than the their predecessors is really strange.
Farmers have played and have altered almost each and every plant, and today’s food is much more different than the ones our Paleolithic predecessors used to eat. The following video is going to show you the true story behind selective breeding and genetic engineering.
